Linda Leone began her entry into the paper industry upon moving to New York State in 1989, as a purchasing agent for Domtar Inc. in Lockport, New York. She transitioned to the mill buyer position for this gypsum paper producing facility, which was later purchased by Caraustar Industries. In 1995 she took the opportunity to work as the Fiber Procurement Manager for the just built, state of the art, 100% recycled linerboard and medium paper mill at Solvay Paperboard in Syracuse, New York. Rapid growth of this company continued with a second machine in 1999 and a third machine in 2002. With this latest expansion, responsibilities include the procurement of over 750,000 tons per year of secondary fiber. Linda was recognized as the Mill Buyer of the Year for 2003 at the Paper Recycling Conference in Chicago, IL. Her current industry related associations include affiliations with ISRI and PSI. Linda sits on the Standards and Practice committee for PSI. She is also a board member of the New York Association of Dealers in Paper Mill Supplies and has been a member of the NAPW for several years. Linda is very excited to be asked to fill the presidency role for the NAPW. "I'd like our organization to be active in the industry and work to further the NAPW's scholarship programs, which have been so crucial to so many Pulp and Paper Science students that enter the industry. What a great way to welcome our future colleagues." Linda and her husband live outside Buffalo, New York with their two sons. They are major hockey fans of not only the Buffalo Sabres, but their sons as well. They are avid campers and Harley Davidson enthusiasts. |
